About SaluteOurServices.org
Salute Our Services is an exciting and innovative Army Program that augments existing programs sponsored by Army Community Services (ACS) and Unit Family Readiness Groups. The Salute Our Services program will augment ACS services in these important ways:
- Unique Internet Communities for designated Army units, connecting deployed soldiers and their loved ones on discreet, private websites. Participants will build a sense of community and friendship by exchanging information, hearing all the latest news, posting pictures, and celebrating special occasions. Children will have access to their own area, where they can interact with peers, share information and enjoy activities.
- The Mentor Program works to ease some of the emotional burden of a deployment by teaming volunteer mentors with the spouses and loved ones of soldiers going through the deployment experience. The program will match people according to gender, relationship to soldier (spouse, parent, significant others, and other family members) and special interests and hobbies. In all cases, matches will be made based on gender that is female-to-female and male-to-male. Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
- The Outreach Program encourages support from private organizations and community businesses to increase support and outreach services for units and their families.
- The Training Program provides access to Internet skills instruction for any family member who notifies the program of their interest in participating.
